Shangri-La 2010 May 23 Set: Dance and Mash-Ups

After a two week break, I was back to Air Conditioned last night for our weekly DJing extravaganza. This week, I decided to play a number of new tunes I'd found over the past couple weeks in addition to a medley of amazing mash-ups I've been collecting recently. Yesterday, I randomly started singing three rap songs and accidentally or coincidentally interweaving their lyrics (no, I don't often burst into singing rap on a daily basis). They were probably relevant to something I was doing or thinking about, though I don't have a Chevy with butterfly doors. I probably subconsciously chose these songs because of their similar themes, energy, and even lyrics (and two of them share a common vocalist). I decided that this was probably a good enough basis for a mash-up, and here's the result. Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

I had a great Mother's Day seeing my family and finished up the night spinning a decently long set at Air Conditioned. I finally got through my backlog of "must-play" tunes and even threw in some of my classic favorites from years ago. This mix has a big variety of genres in it, and it's also the first time I did live mash-ups in dance music.
