I just finished reading Startup Life: Surviving and Thriving in a Relationship with an Entrepreneur by Brad Feld and Amy Batchelor. I had previously really enjoyed Brad's Do More Faster, so I was hoping this book would be as useful and filled with concrete advice and stories like DMF. I was not disappointed.
As an entrepreneur, engineer, and general busybody/workaholic and in a relationship with someone similar, I learned many lessons from this book from both perspectives (the busy person's and the one dealing with the busy person). My biggest takeaway is the importance of communication and finding little tricks and routines that work for the two of you as you build a deeper understanding of each other.
I enjoyed hearing the stories from the lives of Brad and other busy people and the different ways they manage the work/family balance. I really want to try the ideas of Life Dinner, QX week off the grid, and weekly day off the grid.
Below are my main notes on the book, which I found to be filled with interesting stories and lots of helpful, concrete, low-level pointers.
